Eagle Valley Homecoming candidates for 1999 are: Holly Grewe, Abby Weber, Jasmine Hansen, Dana Dickinson, Sara Johnson. King candidates are: Isaiah Godding, Anthony Murch, Justin Nelson, Mike Aspengren and Kipp Greenwaldt. The coronation will be held on Monday, September 20, at 8 p.m., at the high school gymnasium.

On September 7, the Rebels Volleyball team defeated Parkers Prairie in three games. Individual game scores were 15-4, 15-3 and 15-5. The Rebels played good hard volleyball. The girls got the momentum going early on and wouldn’t let Parkers in the games. As a team the Rebels served 96% with 12 aces.

Glenn Line and Lyle “Scotty” Greenwaldt emerged the two winners in the race for county commissioner in the primary election held on Tuesday, September 10. This position, for which five candidates had filed, drew the most interest locally.

Some of the homecoming plans have been changed due to the girls basketball tourney at Bertha on Thursday, September 26. The queen coronation and variety show will be held on Wednesday, September 25. Karin Einerwold’s entry to the homecoming slogan contest “And you think you’re an Eagle too?” was selected by the student council as the slogan for the 1974 homecoming which pits the Grey Eagle “Eagles” against the overpowering Eagle Bend “Eagles.”
