September 29, 1999

The Eagle Valley FFA chapter held their first meeting on Monday, September 20 at 2:35 p.m. The new officers this year are president, Isaiah Godding; vice president, JoDee Hlatky; secretary, Sonja Stoterau; treasurer, Robert Klimek: reporter, Peter Holmquist; sentinel, Dan Schroeder; and officer at large, Kipp Greenwaldt.

Junior Austin Murch scored three touchdowns as the Eagle Valley Rebels defeated the Pillager Huskies 28-0 last Friday to end the homecoming week. Austin scored on runs of 3, 3, and 1 yard. This improved the Rebels record to 3-1 in the season.

45 Years Ago

October 3, 1979

On Wednesday, September 25, at approximately 8:45 p.m., Miss Barb Willie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Rueben Willie, was crowned as the 1974 homecoming queen. Mr. John Pachan, senior escort and Student Council president, held the audience in suspense as he gently placed the glimmering jeweled crown on Barb’s head.

Monday, October 7, 1974, has been designated as D-Day for all smokers in Minnesota. Eagle Bend will join the other communities on this day in an absolute attempt to stop smoking for one day. D-Day, which stands for Don’t Smoke Day, is being co-sponsored by many community organizations.
