News from Eagle Bend's Past

October 13, 1999

Keith Speas just wanted to retire on his 40 acre farm he just bought northwest of Eagle Bend. Two days after closing the sale his heart stopped beating. He spent the next 13 months going through medical nightmares. He had his chest opened up six times, was brought back to life six times, and lost some of his appendages. One day short of 13 months, he returned home with someone else’s heart in his chest keeping him alive.

Eagle Lanes is undergoing a major exterior renovation. A new peaked roof is being put on the building. The roof will be 68’x 59’ with an extension to the north to make it symmetrical. In addition, new siding and windows will be installed on the front and side of the building. SCW Construction is doing the month-long project. An untimely rain last week caused some serious leaks in the flat roof that forced the cancellation of bowling leagues for two days.

Senior Captain Bruce Moller kicked his first extra point of the 1974 season and it was a big one. Moller’s kick gave the Eagles a 13-12 overtime victory against Osakis.
