25 Years Ago

November 17, 1999

At the November 8 meeting, the Eagle Valley School Board approved awarding diplomas to World War II veterans who had attended either Clarissa or Eagle Bend schools. The voluntary concept was brought to the attention of the board by Chairman Dale Greenwaldt from information in the Minnesota School Bard Association’s Journal. But since it takes time for the application process, Greenwaldt suggested the diplomas be awarded at the 1999-2000 high school graduation ceremony this coming spring.

Jason Nelson is becoming well known in the snowmobile drag racing circuit. In the three years Jason has been involved, he’s earned quite an assortment of trophies. Recently he participated in the Hay Days races at Lino Lakes with his 1999 Ski-Doo MXZX Rotax 440LC and brought home a trophy.


49 Years Ago

November 21, 1975

On November 14, our four town nursing home was denied by a 4 to 3 vote by the Minnesota State Board of Health (SBH). The SBH discussed Todd County’s proposals of Clarissa’s four town area, including Long Prairie and Staples, for 90 minutes before the final decision of 4 to 3 was given.

Sixteen eager basketball players reported for the first practice of the season on November 12 at Eagle Bend. Among those reporting were last year’s letter winners: John Hosmer, Kurt Taber, Keith Olson and Tom Murch. “We will relay on these four to carry us most of the way,” commented Guy Kalland, Eagle’s coach.
