25 Years Ago

November 24, 1999

Chuck Moller, a 1980 graduate of Eagle Bend High School, is bound for the Rose Bowl. Moller is the offensive line coach for the Pac 10 Sanford Cardinals. They will face the Wisconsin Badgers in the Rose Bowl on New Year’s Day. Moller is in his third year as a coach at Stanford.

Ripley’s Inc., a contractor working for Midwest Telephone Company, was in Eagle Bend last week burying plastic tubes for new telephone cable. Once all the tubes are buried, 300 pairs of copper wire will be pulled through one of the tubes, and 36 fiber optic cables will be pulled through the other tube. The fiber cable is being extend from Eagle Bend’s office to Wadena to expand the band width available to customers.

March 28, 1975

The Eagle Bend Cafe has been sold and is reopening under new management in the newer future. It has been sold to Edna Fosbaug who has been in the cafe business for the past 20 years. Watch for an opening date.

Myron Oftedahl was selected as November’s FFA member of the month. Myron is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Halvor Oftedahl Jr. He is a junior at the Eagle Bend High School and is very active in FFA.
