25 Years Ago

December 8, 1999

Judy Milbrett, VFW Auxiliary chairman of the Voice of Democracy, and VFW Commander Gary Johnson are shown presenting checks of $100 to Alyssa LaVoie and $50 to Sarah McDermott, a senior and a ninth grader at the Eagle Valley High School in Eagle Bend. Their essays on “America’s role for the next century” were judged as winners by a committee from the local VFW and Auxiliary.

The Eagle Valley Lady Rebels hosted Menahga on November 30 in the opening game of the 1999-2000 basketball season. Senior Laura Hommerding led the Lady Rebels with 15 first half points. Despite the girls playing pretty good defense, holding Menahga to 20 second half points, the Lady Rebels could only chalk up 10 points of their own, eventually falling to Menahga by a score of 47-39.


50 Years Ago

December 12, 1975

Results of the December 2 election of the ASC community committeemen for 1975 were announced today by Harold Trick, chairman of the Todd County Agricultural Stabilization and Conservation Committee. Among those elected was Wayne Aspengren of Eagle Bend.

The Eagle Bend Eagles, in only their third year of wrestling, came home last Saturday night with the school’s first championship trophy for wrestling.
