25 Years Ago

December 15, 1999

Stockholders of Central Ag Services and Eagle Valley Cooperative Oil Association have been notified of a special meeting at 1 p.m. on December 16 at the Clarissa Ballroom. The purpose of the meeting is to vote on a plan to consolidate three cooperatives: Northern Cooperative Services, Eagle Valley Cooperative Oil Association and Central Ag.

On the evening of Sunday, December 4, gang related graffiti was found on several downtown businesses in Eagle Bend including Central Ag Services, Lake Country Bank, the County Garage and the Teen Center. According to Police Chief Tony Pangal, the gang called the Gangster Disciples is prevalent in Minneapolis after having its origins in the Chicago area. The gang symbol includes a six pointed star and pitch fork. The pitch fork represents the members, in this case indicating white members. The suspect admitted to marking his territory and could possibly face felony charges.


50 Years Ago

December 19, 1974

The Eagle Bend Community Housing Corporation announced that approval has been received for a $272,000 loan with which to build a 16 apartment complex which consists of four-two bedroom units and 12-one bedroom units. Construction will begin soon on the Andrew G. Olson property in Eagle Bend.
