The Dan Roach family came to Eagle Bend from Elmore by way of Parkers Prairie early in 1903. In the story about Eagle Bend, a great deal of information came from George Restorff, Andrew Abbot and Elsworth Sarr. The balance is from some memories. The naming of Eagle Bend: two strong families, the Abbotts and the Sarffs held many meetings on this. The Abbotts wanted the name of Abbottsville. The Sarff’s choice was never known, but Eagle Bend it became.

On Tuesday, we hosted the Bertha-Hewitt Bears who have been having a good season. The game was very intense as many local teams were looking for a top position in the conference and sub-section races. The gym was full and loud. The game got off to a good start for our team as all five starters scored for us as we jumped to a 23-13 lead. In the fourth quarter things really got moving. There was a drive to the basket which drew the defense in and then a kick out to Andy Pontius who hit an open jump shot to end the game at the buzzer.

Several places in the village of Eagle Bend were vandalized some time during the early morning hours on Friday. A brick was thrown through the heavy plate glass front door of the Citizens State Bank building leaving a good sized hole. The brick was found on the floor several feet inside. Two of the front glass doors at the school were also smashed as were several windows at the county garage building.
