News from Eagle Bend's Past

The Eagle Valley Teen Center in Eagle Bend will be celebrating 10 years in operation early this summer with an open house. Dates have been set up to “freshen-up” its look and a garage sale is being planned as a fundraiser to pay for some of the repairs. Saturday, April 8 and 15 and May 6 are planned as dates to wash walls, paint, fix ceiling tiles and pull up the carpeting.

On February 27, the Sport Karate Open was held at the Radisson Hotel in St. Paul. Bertha-Wadena sent three competitors: Candy Parks, a black belt; Kristina McKellep, a green belt; and Jesse Petrie, a blue belt. They worked very hard for this tournament and showed very good form and sparred well. Candy earned second place, Kristina placed fourth and Jessie placed first.

April 10, 1975
The state final piano contest sponsored by the Minnesota Music Teachers Association was held on the campus of the University of Minneapolis on March 22. Alan Crider, son of Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Crider, was one of four winners selected to play in the state honor concert to be held at Northrup Auditorium on June 9.

Eagle Bend FFA’s poultry judging team includes: Steve Weishair, Ron Pachan, Rolland Farrell and Dave Pachan. They placed fifth in the regional contest held recently at Little Falls. Little Falls won the team competition. They were followed by Brainerd, Bertha-Hewitt, Park Rapids and then Eagle Bend.
