“I was surprised and delighted to learn that I had been chosen as Teacher of the Year by the Eagle Valley Education Association,” said Cheryl Taylor. It is the first time in her 16 years as a teacher in the Eagle Bend school district. This year she taught 18 second grade students, including her son, Zachary. Taylor feels it is an honor to teach.

The Eagle Valley golf season has been going strong the past two weeks. We have golfed in seven events since April 17. As a team we are not finishing well due to some high scores. We want to score four players in the 10s and so far we are only getting two scores in the 40s. We have two seniors, Mike Aspengren who has been our steadiest golfer and our most experienced. The other senior is Andy Pontius who is out for his first time and is showing good strides toward improving his game.

The announcement was made at the society’s annual meeting in Lincoln, Nebraska on April 19. Diane was chosen to receive the $250 college scholarship from the eight state contestants who competed.

For the third straight year the Eagle Bend girls have participated and done well at the Henning invitational. But the powerful Alexandria Cardinals were too much for everyone. Senior Debbie Boyer led the Eagles in scoring by taking first place in four events: the high jump, 100 yard dash, 60 yard hurdles and 110 yard dash.
