The 32-unit Fair Oaks Apartment complex in Wadena is nearing completion. It is located adjacent to Sunnybrook Park on Wadena’s east side. The apartments are designed to provide housing for persons who need some assistance with daily living tasks but do not require the level of care provided at a nursing home. Operated as a non-profit entity, the Fair Oaks Apartments will be managed by a six-person board of directors. Members include: Scotty Greenwaldt, Eagle Bend; Ralph Lorentz, Mike Gibson, Anthony Platz, Jeanette Baymler and Jean Zozel, all of Wadena.

The Voice of Democracy essay winners were presented with awards on Wednesday, November 15. Picture are Lucille Hagedorn, Auxiliary president; Maija Wiltermuth, third place; Alesha Murch, fourth-place tie; Sherrie Lundgren, second place; Larry Woodworth, Voice of Democracy Chairman; Gary Johnson, post commander; Bonnie Beach, fourth-place tie and Isaac Bradlich, first place.
50 Years Ago
November 19, 1970
E-5 Jack Lennes, son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Lennes of rural Eagle Bend, was home recently on leave after spending one year on duty with the Armed Forces in Vietnam. Following his leave, he returned to Vietnam for voluntary extended duty.

The Frederick E. Cossentine Post of the American Legion will hold a pancake and sausage supper on Sunday evening, November 22.
