January 17, 1996
Jason Bain and Kelly Greene, Eagle Valley High School seniors, have been nominated for the Academics, Arts and Athletics Award. Jason has been active in the National Honor Society, football, basketball and golf, as well as SADD, SAE, FFA, FLA, annual staff, band, pep band, youth group, usher, communication assistant and he worked with the Eagle Valley Volunteers on the community haunted house. Kelly has been active in National Honor Society, softball, volleyball, a student body officer, involved in the school play and musical and was voted as homecoming queen this year. She is also active in SADD, DARE, FLA, FFA, SAE, annual staff, cheerleading, peer helpers and is a teacher’s assistant.

The Rebels won easily against the Upsala Cardinals 66-9 giving them their first win. Upsala came in giving four forfeits to Eagle Valley’s one. The match was quick since all the wrestlers had one fall or forfeit.
50 Years Ago
January 14, 1971
This week marks the beginning of a new era in the struggle for survival of the Eagle Bend News, one of Eagle Bend’s oldest business establishments. They are putting into operation a four-page newspaper press and a mechanical newspaper folder which, should, when final adjustments are completed, eliminate a considerable amount of man-hours of work each week.

The stockholders of the Eagle Bend Creamery Association at a special annual meeting held last Saturday voted to accept the proposal of Land O’ Lakes, Inc. of Minneapolis for the purchase of certain assets for the dairy department and feed department of their association.
