25 Years Ago

February 4, 1996

Senior Meeting Minutes: State Representative Ken Otremba and wife, Mary Ellen, Eagle Valley home economics teacher, served eggnog to the senior citizens in Eagle Bend as special guests of the T.C.C. Nutrition Christmas Buffet before the Christmas holiday. Byron Simar played piano for the event’s sing-a-long which was held in December.

On Tuesday we hosted a tough Bertha-Hewitt basketball team. They came in with only one loss and they showed us why. They took over in the first and third quarters point-wise and the game ended with a 50-72 loss for the Rebels. We did not match up well and when this happens we must raise our level of play to make up for it.

50 Years Ago

February 4, 1971

The charged-up Eagles played their best defensive game of the season last Tuesday night, January 26, and defeated the Upsala Cardinals 47-43. This win put the Eagles in place along with Clarissa and Upsala.

The ringing of voices of The Men of Song will be the next attraction in Wadena heard in the Wadena Area Concert Association series. This concert quartet is considered by many critics to be the first-ever assembled. Over the years they have delighted audiences over the length and breadth of the American continent having sung more than 800 concerts. Their program is designed to maintain the enormous popularity they have always enjoyed.
