News From Eagle Bend's Past

25 Years Ago

August 7, 1996

The last two nights of the regular season play for golf were held on July 25 and August 1. The team winner and flight winners for the year will be determined and announced at the banquet on August 15. On July 25, the weekly winners were Sandy Bain and Elsie Gustafson. Low actual was recorded by Barb Thompson with a 44 and low net was recorded by Kathy Yates with a 24.

The 1996 Todd County dairy show 4-H’ers who will represent Todd County at the Minnesota State Fair: Sonja Stoterau, Wykeham Willing Workers, Eagle Bend; Brent Tyrrell, A-1, Browerville; Mark LaVoie, Hustlin Rustics, Clarissa; Andrew Close, Wykeham Willing Workers, Eagle Bend; Nichole Tyrrell, A-1, Browerville; Clayton Krause, Hustlin Rustics, Eagle Bend; and Trey Tyrrell, A-1, Browerville.


50 Years Ago

August 5, 1971

Mr. W.E. James, Eagle Bend superintendent of schools, has informed the news office that all new teachers for the school year 71-72 have been hired. He is very enthusiastic about the fine young promising teachers who will join the local staff this year. Some have some very outstanding college records.

Sharon Nelson, a science teacher for the Eagle Bend Public School, attended a five-week desegregation institute to help teachers understand the problems involved in integrating public schools.
