News from Eagle Bend's Past

Lillian Stender has gotten used to hearing voices since she’s lived at the intersection of Central Avenue and U.S. Highway 71. The voices come from those who stop to admire the unusual, beautiful stone house that Lillian lives in. They also come to the door, asking questions and wanting to see the inside, which she wisely declines. The stone house on the corner was the brainchild of the late George Wedner. It started out to be a superstation, a full-service station and cafe. There used to be a silo and a gas station, made into an office, where the stone house sits today.
