The Eagle Valley Ministerial Association, composed of area ministers, Peter Soli, Bonita Orr, Horst Augustin and James F. Ruchmann, met with a large group of area citizens concerned about the suicides of two teens and the fear that there would be more if something wasn’t done. Pastor Augustin started out with prayer and then the four ministers took turns reading the heart-felt responses written by members of the junior and senior class in response to these two deaths. Many of the readings expressed anger, frustration, “being scared” and “who’s next?”

Mrs. Ethel Tweet, 83, had the thrill of a lifetime last Sunday, October 10, when Raymond Davis, formerly of the Eagle Bend area and now of Olivia, took Mrs. Tweet for her first airplane ride. Mr. and Mrs. Davis had flown their plane to the Clarissa airport to spend the day visiting with friends in Eagle Bend. Mr. Davis called his long-time friend Mrs. Tweet and offered her a ride, which she quickly accepted. They flew over the town of Eagle Bend and the surrounding area, giving Mrs. Tweet a bird’s eye view which she greatly enjoyed.
