A committee formed by the Clarissa and Eagle Bend city councils accepted a proposal from NSP to provide the two cities with natural gas. The gas company will now survey the communities to see if there is enough interest to install the $1.7 million utility. If there is enough interest, the gas lines could be installed by next summer. The cost to Eagle Bend is projected at $810,279 and Clarissa $953,065.

For 20 years, Wayne Olson had the best seat at the high school football games. Last week, Coach John Sieling presented Olson with a plaque commemorating his 20 years of running the chains for the first down markers at home football games for the Eagle Bend Eagles and the Eagle Valley Rebels.

The Eagle Bend Chapter of the Future Farmers of America thanks all of the farmers who contributed to the “Corn Drive for Camp Courage” this year. More than $250 was raised in the local area.

A study of the population and the related hunger problems in Mr. Roers’ grade 12 social studies classes has led to the sponsorship of a young girl from Thailand. The enthusiasm generated by the seniors has mushroomed to include students in grades 9-12 and some faculty members as well. Pledges were made by students and faculty to support a child for one year at a cost of $144.
