Safe Routes to School Plan moves forward

Safe Routes to School
Ryan Odden with Moore Engineering presented the final draft for the sidewalks for the Safe Routes to School (SRTS) grant.
Sidewalk plans are for the east side of Thompson Street, both sides of Brown Street (County Road 23), the north side of 5th Avenue, the south side from Brown Street just to the baseball field, and Farwell Street/4th Avenue to connect to the existing sidewalk. Four digital speed feedback signs will also be installed on Farwell Street South, both ends of Brown Street and 1st Avenue.
The council approved going out for bids for the SRTS sidewalk project.
The sidewalks will be the subject of a public hearing to be held on Monday, March 10.

Public Works Supervisor Matt Uselman received two quotes for street paving. The streets are Second Avenue North, between Farwell and Alliance Church; Second Avenue South, between Brown and Farwell and two blocks of Butler; and the parking lot at the shop building....
