Santa has been coming to Hewitt for 39 years

The Hewitt Santa Day has been a long-standing tradition that has stood the test of time for the past 39 years.
It all started over coffee at the Wagon Wheel Cafe in 1992. The cafe was operated by Larry and Joan Sworski.
That original group included the Sworskis, Dave Templin, Alex Weego, Monte and Alice Schweninger, Arliss Lovelace, Mike Schwantes, Dawn Simpson, and Ardy McAllister.
“There are still people that were originally there, that helped start it and they were the continuum. They wanted it to go on,” said L. Sworski
The townspeople liked it and have kept it going all these years.
It all began with a handful of people that decided to offer coffee and cookies to the community residents. That first Saturday afternoon the Sworskis closed the cafe to help at the event. . .
