Seven fire departments respond to barn fire

On Tuesday, November 5, at 5:23 p.m., the Wadena Fire Department responded to a large barn fire at 615th Avenue in Compton Township.

Upon arrival of fire units on scene, firefighters observed a fully engulfed barn with livestock being evacuated by the owner. Command made the decision to use defensive tactics to protect exposures and extinguish the fire. Due to the size and quantity of hay and straw within the barn a decision was made to assist with use of heavy equipment to extinguish the fire....
