Shooter to face a jury trial in December for murder
A two-week jury trial for Ricardo Del Valle Martinez, charged with second-degree murder, was set on September 1 for December 7-17.
Del Valle Martinez was charged in the shooting of two brothers that occurred in the Browerville area on August 29, 2020, injuring one and killing the other.
Edward Abreu Grullon was shot in the left arm. Edwin Abreu Grullon was deceased and it was later determined by the medical examiner that the cause of death was a gunshot wound to the chest.
The shooting occurred at the intersection of County Road 38 and County Road 11 in Todd County.
Edward drove his brother Edwin to an area where they were going to meet others unknown to Edward to clear up some issues regarding Edwin owing money.
Once the brothers arrived at the stop sign of County Roads 38 and 11, they were shot at while they were in their vehicle. Edward was able to drive away and get out of the area.
In a Mirandized statement, Del Valle Martinez admitted to investigators that Edwin had stolen controlled substances and that he received an order to kill Edwin.
Del Valle Martinez is charged with two counts of second-degree murder, one with intent, not premeditated-aid/abet and the other with intent-aid/abet/attempted.
