Shultz killed in motorcycle accident; Ekholm faces criminal charges
On Saturday, August 31, at approximately 9:38 p.m., the Wadena County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call reporting a crash near the County Road 2 and 251st Avenue intersection in Section 27 of Thomastown Township.
Upon the arrival of first responders, they found a 1986 Yamaha motorcycle and a 2023 Ford F350 pickup.
The motorcycle, driven by Keith Shultz, 52, of Wadena, was eastbound on County Road 2 when it collided with the rear end of the pickup, which was also eastbound on County Road 2.
The pickup driver, Russell Ekholm, 52, of Staples, was not injured in the crash.
Shultz was transported by ambulance to Lakewood Health System and airlifted to CentraCare Hospital in St. Cloud where he later died from his injuries....
