Steve Riewer honored with Dick Sebert Award
On January 11 at the Minnesota High School Baseball Coaches and Associations banquet, Steve Riewer was presented with the Dick Sebert Award. This award honors individuals for their dedication and contribution to high school baseball.
Steve Riewer started his coaching career at Bertha-Hewitt High School in 1984. After coaching junior high baseball in his first year, he took over as head coach the following year. He was head coach for nine years before stepping away from coaching for two years. He then returned as an assistant for 14 years.
In 2011, Bertha-Hewitt joined Verndale, and Steve was selected as the head coach of a newly paired program. He remained as head coach until he retired from teaching in 2018.
Steve returned to teaching part-time at the Verndale High School in 2020 and is still teaching.
