A 14-year-old boy was brutally beaten during a volleyball game at the Wadena-Deer Creek School on September 28.

Jayden Jensen attended the volleyball game to watch his sisters play volleyball.

According to Jensen’s mother, Amber Nelson, during the volleyball match, Jensen was approached by several teenagers who asked to talk with him privately. He was led to an empty hallway where he was brutally beaten by one of the teens. Another filmed the incident while others stood by and did nothing to stop the fight.

In the video, Jensen was thrown to the ground and hit repeatedly while on the floor. The thump of the impacts was audible. The attacker was wearing cowboy boots, stomping on Jensen.

Jensen was later brought home by a friend. He hid the incident from his parents. Jensen explained to his mother he didn’t tell her about it because he didn’t want her to freak out.

Nelson received the video from a friend and confronted her son about it and he was immediately taken to a hospital for evaluation. Nelson was not pleased with a note on the discharge papers that said, “Don’t go to volleyball games without a bodyguard :).”...
