The War in Ukraine: Part 2: The sad truths about war
by Karin L. Nauber
Warning: This story contains some graphic photographs and descriptions of what is happening in Ukraine. This story and accompanying photos may be disturbing for some of our readers. Actually, this story should be disturbing to all of our readers because this hits home much closer than most of us probably even imagine.
This is part two of the story of Oksana Laumeyer from the Long Prairie/Osakis area who is originally from Ukraine.
Note: The photos used in this story are ones that were shared with me by Oksana who received them from her friends and family members who still live in Ukraine. Some are also photos that were shared on Facebook.
Correction: We misspelled one of Tim and Oksana’s children’s names in last week’s article. The correct spelling is Brendan.
War is ugly. War is horrific, undignified, and evil.
Yes, evil.
When I spoke with my friend, Oksana Laumeyer, who makes her home in the Long Prairie area about the war in her homeland, she replied, “Karin, I can’t even tell you with words. There is so much pain and ache.”
Oksana has family that lives in both Ukraine and in Russia. It is like that for many of the people in that area of the world.
Because of that, Oksana said that there are so many shooting their own brothers and sisters.
“It is a massacre, not a war. They [Russians] are not soldiers, they are murderers,” said Oksana. . .
