Tigers advance in playoffs

by Coach Robert Schueller
Browerville/Eagle Valley - 76, Sebeka - 56
The Sub-Section 5A West playoffs began last week and the Browerville/Eagle Valley Tigers hosted the Sebeka Trojans in the quarterfinals. The Tigers are the #2 seed while the Trojans were the #7 seed.
B/EV started out quickly, jumping out to a 15 to 5 lead. Sebeka stuck around closing the gap to just two points.
Two more times the Tigers would increase their lead to ten points, but each time Sebeka was able to shoot their way back.
The Tigers took, and made, the last shot of the half. Jayden Schultz’s fifth make from three-point range gave the Tigers a ten point lead for the fourth time in the first half.
Schultz scored 19 first half points, and Ryan Riedel scored 12 as the Tigers put 44 points on the board.
Sebeka shot the ball well, including six makes from three point range to score 34 points.
The second half saw a change of pace. B/EV’s defense tightened up and the offense became more deliberate.
Sebeka would only get as close as eight points in the second half.
The Tigers were in control and slowly pulled away to win their first round playoff game by a final score of 76 - 56.
Ryan Riedel had a double-double with 12 points and 12 assists....
