Tigers face Silverstreaks: Do well in Parkers

by Coach Mary Irsfeld

On Tuesday night, the Browerville Eagle Valley Volleyball team traveled to Osakis to take on the Silverstreaks. The Tigers were defeated 2-3 (25-23, 25-18, 18-25, 17-25, 11-15).

A nice start by the Tigers forced an early Silverstreaks timeout. Osakis climbed back to keep the score close at 16-16. A strong push by the Tigers gave them a 3-point advantage, leading to another Osakis timeout at 21-18. After a 4-point push from Osakis, the Tigers took their first timeout at 24-22. The first set ended with the Tigers up 25-23.

Set two began with another strong start for the Tigers, quickly jumping ahead 6-1, prompting Osakis to call an early time-out.

Following the break, a missed serve and defensive misreads by the Tigers allowed Osakis to close the gap to within one point.

In response, the Tigers called a time-out of their own to regroup. The brief pause proved to be exactly what they needed, as they regained momentum and extended their lead once more. The Tigers maintained control for the rest of the set, securing a 25-18 victory.

The Tigers faced significant difficulties in the third set, with early struggles leading to a deficit of 8-3.

Despite calling a time-out, they were unable to shake off the mental errors plaguing both their offense and defense.

A second time-out at 16-9 couldn’t halt Osakis’ momentum either. While the Tigers fought back to narrow the score to 17-21, they ultimately couldn’t close the gap, and Osakis sealed the set with a 25-18 win....
