Tigers never gave up

by Coach Mary Isfeld

“Never give up” seemed to be the Tigers’ theme this week as they played three lengthy and grueling matches.

On Monday, the Tigers hosted the Sebeka Trojans. The Tigers took the match 3-1 (25-14, 23-25, 25-22, 27-25).

Sebeka put up a bigger block. We had a tough time finding holes in their defense. The Trojans are a very scrappy team and seemed to be everywhere.

Looking at stats, it was a very defensive game. The Tigers ended with 108 digs as Sebeka ended with 109 digs. We had 8 missed serves compared to their 3. But, we had 8 ace serves compared to their 2. I guess you take the good with the bad.

Tyra Myers put up 45 set assists. Grace Lorentz’s blocking was game-changing in game 4. She had 3 ace blocks. Madeline Irsfeld had 4 ace serves. Irsfeld also led the attack with 16 kills followed by Lauren Schnettler with 13, Lorentz with 12, Anna Myers with 8 and Liz Blom with 6. Schnettler ended with 22 digs, Leona May had 17, T. Myers and A. Myers each had 15 and Lily Puck had 14. . .
