Tigers open season with a victory
by Coach Jeff Myers
The Tigers softball team opened up the 2022 campaign on a sunny but frigid day by traveling to the College of St. Ben’s to take on the Royalton Royals. Although the weather was cold, the Tigers' bats were hot as they would collect 14 hits on the day to claim the victory by a final of 11-1.
After Royalton struck first with an unearned run in the top of the first, Browerville/EV immediately answered back by scoring six runs in the bottom of the frame.
The Tigers began the game by pounding out six straight hits before making their first out of the season. They would go on to score one time each in the 2nd through 6th innings while playing errorless defense the remainder of the game.
Senior Aubriana Schwanke threw 5 strong innings despite having to battle the chilly conditions, giving up 0 ER, 2 hits, and 4 walks while striking out 4 Royals. . .
