Tigers open season with three game winning streak

by Coach Wayne Petermeier

The Tigers have opened the season on a three game winning streak.

The Tigers opened the season on the road at Menahga. Not having any film or insight on your opponent always makes for an unsure and doubtful opening night. The Tigers came to Menahga ready to play and brought a physical brand of football.

The coaching staff knew we had some good experienced players at a few positions from last year but, there are always big holes to fill from the previous season. We found a few new players who showed they can compete at the varsity level and did what they were asked to do.

It is a balance of getting your feet wet the first game and showing you can compete at a much higher level.

We did that in game one with a 41 - 0 victory.

The next week we had the ACGC Falcons come to town. They run a very “eye candy” offense where if you don’t read “YOUR” key they will fool you and be off to the races. We did an outstanding job knowing what “I” have to do for the team to be successful.

We got better from week one to week two and our young players have gained some great game experience, game speed, and game physicality. We did a lot better job on the offensive end of sustaining drives and understanding the importance of positive yards each play on offense.....
