Tigers take narrow win from Cromwell-Wright

by Coach Robert Schueller

Browerville/Eagle Valley - 60, Cromwell-Wright - 58

The Tigers traveled to Cromwell last Friday night to take on the Cardinals. This was a non-Conference and non-Section game for the Tigers.

Browerville/Eagle Valley put together a solid defensive performance in the first half holding Cromwell-Wright to just 20 points.

The two teams started out getting a good feel for the game while trading baskets.

Six-plus minutes into the game, the score was tied at eleven. C-W took their first lead on a breakaway basket, 13 - 11.

A minute later, Jayden Schultz put the Tigers back in the lead with a three-pointer.

The Tigers defense then helped put together a 15 to 2 run to open up a 26 - 15 lead and force the Cardinals into a timeout.

B/EV forced another turnover out of the timeout and Ben Host scored on a breakaway layup assisted by Ryan Riedel.

The halftime score was 34 - 20, Tigers.

Jayden Schultz had 15 first half points, and Ben Host was also in double digits with 10 points. Scoring was not really the story of the first half. Instead, it was the team defense of the Tigers.

The Tigers started the second half with what appeared was going to be a forced shot-clock violation against the Cardinals, but Cromwell-Wright’s L. Gervais just beat the shot-clock and banked in a three point shot....
