Tigers take two in three-game week

by Coach Jeff Myers

The Browerville-Eagle Valley softball team had another busy week last week as they took advantage of the nice weather and were able to get three games in.

On Monday, the Tigers hosted a non-conference foe in the Bertha-Hewitt/Verndale Raiders.

The Raiders came out swinging and jumped out to a 1st-inning 0-3 lead.

The Tigers would answer by plating 11 runs in the 2nd through 4th innings to take a lead they would not relinquish.

Junior Miley Riedel and Sophomore Bristol Bruder paced the offensive attack for the Tigers with two hits each.

Seniors Ava Lorentz and Allison Cebulla, and Freshman Olivia Browen all chipped in with one hit each, including Browen’s first varsity hit.

Bruder went the distance, working around several Tigers miscues to get the win.

On Tuesday, B/EV traveled to Osakis to take on the much-improved Silverstreaks in a Prairie Conference match-up.

There were five lead changes and three ties in this back-and-forth affair, with both teams refusing to go away.

In the end, the Silverstreaks got the last lead change when they scored four runs in the bottom of the 6th to take the 8-11 lead, which also ended up being the final score.

Senior Madison Browen, Junior Haylee Hiebert, Cebulla, Riedel, and O. Browen all had hits on the day to lead the offense....
