Tigers win opening round
by Coach Mary Irsfeld
The Tigers opened up Section 5A play with a home game against neighboring Bertha-Hewitt on Friday, October 28. The Tigers were fired up and ready to play as they quickly jumped out to a 10-3 lead, forcing the Bears into a time-out. The girls maintained their focus and kept their foot on the pedal as they cruised to a 25-12 win. Senior Grace Lorentz was huge offensively for the Tigers hitting .400 and picking up 6 kills in the opening set.
Set two was much of the same as the Tigers kept the Bears scrambling. Lorentz continued her big play as she hit a season-best .714, adding 5 more kills on no errors. She also added 3 service aces in the set to carry the Tigers to a 25-10 win.
The Bears weren’t going away so easy though as they came out with more focus and served more aggressively to disrupt the Tigers' offense. . .
