Todd County Board of Commissioners: Health insurance changes for county employees; Approve anaereobic digester on Dairy Ridge property

It seems that Todd County has a lot of high cost claimants for insurance. This is for employees who work for the county. The loss ratio is currently at 101% compared to 122% for the previous year.
Colleen Schumann from Gallagher, who does the insurance for the county, said that in the last 12 months, the county has had 12 high cost claimants. In the previous 12 months there had been 13 high cost claimants and that one of them was over $400,000.
“More was paid out in claims than what was paid in,” said Schumann.
According to the report, “The Better Health Collective – Sourcewell is an insurance pool that the county is part of. Sourcewell – The Better Health Collective operates as a political subdivision joint self-insurance pool in accordance with MN Stat. 471.617 and Minn. R. Ch. 2785. In turn, per MN state regulation the pool must market/bid for the TPA (admin and SL carrier) every 4 years....
