Todd County Board of Commissioners: Township speaks about new development roads

by Karin L. Nauber

Doug Kaiser from Leslie Township addressed the commissioners at their regular meeting on December 10 (held late because of the commissioner’s attendance at the Association of Minnesota Counties held earlier in the week).

Kaiser was talking about the fact that infrastructure needs to be addressed when creating these new developments especially the roads, right of ways and who will be responsible for maintaining them.

Kaiser said they are not against development but he did not believe it was the town board’s responsibility to put in new roads. It was the responsibility of the developer to get the new roads up to county standards.

He expressed concerns with more traffic and more runoff and making sure the road would be able to handle these things.

Commissioner Randy Neumann said that the townships don’t always have the time between the Planning Commission Meeting and the notification that a development is being planned. . .
