Todd County Board of Commissioners: Wages raised for temporary and seasonal employees
by Karin L. Nauber
After discussion, the board approved to increase the beginning hourly rate of pay for temporary and seasonal employees to $19 per hour with an increase of the beginning wage each year equal to the Cost of Living Adjustment (COLA). The current rate is $14 per hour.
The temporary/seasonal employees who return the following year will receive a $1 per hour pay increase, not to exceed the lowest wage paid to a union employee in that department.
The county is currently recruiting for summer staff.
Commissioner David Kircher asked how this increase would affect the budgets for the departments who employed them?
Chairman Rod Erickson said that the departments involved did not feel it would be a negative impact on their budgets.
Commissioner Randy Neumann (speaking for Commissioner Barb Becker who was absent) said that Becker said she was opposed to that large of an increase. . .
