Todd County Declares April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month; Transfer Station Costs Climb: $186K in Change Orders Approved

At the regular Todd County Commissioner meeting on April 1, the commissioners proclaimed April as Sexual Assault Awareness Month and the week of April 6-12 as National Crime Victims’ Rights Week.

Sexual Assault Awareness Month is a time to bring attention to the widespread issue of sexual violence and empower communities to take action. This year’s theme, “Together We Act, United We Change,” highlights the power of working together to create safer, more respectful environments for all.

We must promote education around consent, healthy communication, and bystander intervention to help prevent violence before it starts.

Central to this campaign is the importance of amplifying the voices of survivors, especially those most vulnerable in our communities.

National Crime Victims’ Rights Week is an annual commemoration in the United States that promotes victims’ rights and services. The first Crime Victims Week, (later renamed National Crime Victims’ Rights Week), was established by Ronald Reagan in 1981 as part of an expanding initiative to provide services for victims of crime....
