Twisting, turning, burning and sharpening

John Kaiser of New Edge Sharpening opened up his shop in Hewitt for commercial and residential sharpening. From lawnmower blades and chainsaws to ice skates and knives, there isn’t much he can’t sharpen.
The sharpening business sprung from his life-long passion of woodworking.
As a kid, Kaiser frequented his grandfather’s wood shop in the basement. Grandpa Allie Schlough made whirligigs, which produced movement when the wind would catch the windmill, and cause the wood character he carved to move, such as chopping wood.
“That’s where the bug started. I realized what I could do with my hands. It was more of a gift than anything,” said Kaiser....
