Verndale City Council: City weighs options for FEMA gym grant application

Pastor Amos Self of the Verndale Family Life Church and Tim Donnelly with Berquist Recovery discussed the FEMA gym facility with a primary focus on a tornado-proof shelter.
FEMA distributes grant money every year; this year, it is on February 29. They are looking to submit a grant. But they must be sponsored by a municipality as it is a work grant. Private non-profits can’t apply for the work grants on their own. There is no upfront cost or legal liability to the city. The council wanted to see the contract and have their attorney look at it.
