Verndale City Council: Plans nixed to build new city hall
by Trinity Gruenberg
The Verndale City Council held a special meeting on Wednesday, September 25.
City Hall to Stay in Current Location
The city council reviewed the updated blueprints to determine the cost of an addition for a new city office. The addition would be 50 x 50 and would cost approximately $425,000. The rest of the building was approximately $1.2 million. The two buildings would only be attached by a small hall and a door.
The estimated price of the office, double what the city had expected, made them rethink it. The council discussed how they could put money into the current building update and remodel for less and consider a new building down the road. The Lions currently have $435,000 in their fund for the new building.
The council voted against pursuing the new building and decided to stay in the current one....
