Verndale City Council: Water and sewer credits topic of discussion

The Verndale City Council held its regular meeting on June 12. Council Member Daryl Jacobson was absent.
Yesteryear’s Basement Flooded
Scott and Suzie Nundahl discussed a $300 water bill they received for the replacement of a broken water meter.
Scott found the basement flooded with water on March 20, which knocked out the furnace. The water was supposed to be shut off at the street.
They wondered why they have to pay this bill when the water was supposed to be shut off since 2018. Supposedly the water meter broke after freezing.
The Nundahls kept the restaurant at 40 degrees. Uselman shut the water off at the curb and pumped the water out of the basement. They do not have insurance on the building. The Nundahls asked if the city’s insurance would cover it since originally the water was supposed to be shut off at the street. . .
