Police Chief Resigns

Police Chief Cory Carr submitted his letter of resignation to the Verndale City Council. His last day will be February 8. In his letter, he stated he is leaving to “Pursue opportunities that will allow me to grow financially and professionally.”

Carr is grateful for the support and kindness he received over his 16-year career in Verndale. The council wished him luck in his new endeavor.

The police committee will meet to discuss options on looking for a new chief or going in another direction. They will reach out to Mark Callahan and Deputy Erika Penner as well as the others on the committee, Melissa Current, Matt Uselman, Superintendent Jeannie Mayer, Council Members Daryl Jacobson and Tara Erckenbrack, Fire Chief Mike Madsen. The committee will discuss the options and decide if they should disband the Verndale Police Department. They can’t have a department without a chief. . .
