Verndale Family Life Church welcomes new Youth Pastor Ryan Wolfenden

by Trinity Gruenberg

The Verndale Family Life Church recently added a new pastor to their team.

Youth Pastor Ryan Wolfenden is excited to once again work with Pastor Amos Self and Pastor Tahna Rurup.

Wolfenden is a Wadena native and his wife Kelsie (Trosen) is a Verndale native. They are happy to be back home and closer to family with their three kids, boys Landon, 3, Tucker, 5, and daughter Peyton, 7. Tucker is also a childhood cancer survivor.

Wolfenden, a 2009 Wadena-Deer Creek graduate, had set his sights on becoming a mechanic after high school.

He attended Trinity Bible College in Ellendale, North Dakota, to obtain a degree in business, then planned to go to WyoTech in Laramie, Wyoming, to become a mechanic.

That was the dream, until the end of his freshman year. As a kid, he would use reverse psychology and pray he would become a pastor so that he wouldn’t become a pastor or a missionary. Well, reverse psychology didn’t work and at the end of his freshman year in college, he prayed for direction.

“I didn’t want to waste time. Go through college then have Him tell me to be a pastor instead,” Wolfenden explained.

He was waiting for a sign, someone to tell him that was his calling. . .
