Verndale School Board: Back to school is on the horizon

The Verndale School Board held their regular meeting on August 7. Member Shyla Hess was absent.

Administrative Reports

Principal Katie Bolland shared the professional development over the summer with HRS, MSSAP, Sourcewell Leadership Retreat, Literacy Scope and AVID Summer Institute.

Some AVID items that will be implemented this school year include color coded folders for K-12 for organization and to make it easier for students to locate materials. Elementary will have a sleeve take home folder for homework. There will also be locker organization for grades 1-6 with periodic checks.

Staff changes in the building: Rachel Beard is moving to 7-9 English, Angie Wallin is moving to high school STEM, Amanda Richter long term sub in ag. New staff includes: Kimberly Peppin for 5th and 6th English Language Arts, and Adam Treola Hultberg for music and band; Julia Gwiazdon for fourth grade: Megan Wall, Katy Skillings and Courtney Hogan as education assistants. They are looking to fill one more education assistant position. . .
