The Verndale School Board held their regular meeting on March 6.
SRO Discussion
Mayor Tara Erckenbrack attended the meeting to update the school board. There is a Council on Legal Education Opportunity (CLEO) in place, and they recently interviewed an applicant for a part-time chief. He will begin soon, after background checks are done.
Superintendent Jeannie Mayer spoke with Wadena County Sheriff Mike Carr, Jr. She asked to have deputies stop in and check the building from time to time. They are looking for another officer for flex time. Sheriff Carr is willing to help if they can find another hire.
The city is working with the school to figure out what the needs are. The hours would be flexible but less with part-time. School board members recognized having a School Resource Officer (SRO) is the school’s issue more than the city’s. . .
