Verndale School celebrates success

The Verndale School Board held its regular meeting on Monday, March 3.

Administrative Reports

Principal Katie Bolland highlighted student achievements, including art students attending the MSU Art Affair, Sweetheart Days, and FFA students visiting the CLC campus.

Staff accomplishments were also recognized. The band received excellent ratings at their contest, and two educators—Alicia Jones and Dr. Dan Stelck—were honored as Educators of Excellence. Additionally, Wade and Kim Kern were acknowledged as Pillars of Excellence.

Staffing needs for next year include an elementary music/choir teacher and a trades/industry teacher.

Upcoming events include 10th-grade career exploration, midwinter concerts, Activity Day, spring college visits, a blood drive, parent-teacher conferences, and kindergarten round-up on March 20. ACT testing is scheduled for April 8, and MCA testing will follow on April 9.

Superintendent Jeannie Mayer shared that the kitchen staff has been short-handed, but the school community has stepped up to help serve meals.

Student achievements were also highlighted: Brandon Shamp placed 6th at state in wrestling. Elora Wagner placed 2nd at state. The school recently wrapped up “I Love to Read” month, and Mayer is excited to read Buffalo Fluffalo to K-3 students....
