Wadena County Ag Society President Darin Lehmann has been charged in Wadena County Court with two felony counts of theft.
According to court documents, count one of theft by swindle carries a maximum sentence of five years in prison and/or a $10,000 fine. Count two of the theft charge also carries the same sentence.
From October 4, 2021, through April 11, 2022, intentionally taken were property or services worth more than $1000 but not more than $5000.
On April 18, 2022, a Wadena police officer made contact with former vice president of the Ag society Justin Berg in reference to a theft complaint involving the Wadena County Ag Society. Berg stated the fair board noticed a substantial increase in the fuel bill at John’s Car Care dating back to October 2021.
Berg learned that Lehmann had been charging the board’s account at John’s Car Care, and provided the officer with signed receipts with Lehmann’s signature. There were 20 transactions totaling over $1624.
Surveillance video on March 8, 2022, showed Lehmann pumping diesel into a white crew cab Ford pickup. He has not had a valid diver’s license since at least 2011 and his driving status is currently canceled. . .
