Wadena County Commissioners: Administrator resigns

The Wadena County Commissioners held a special meeting on Tuesday, October 8.
The commissioners accepted the resignation of County Administrator CJ Holl, Commissioner Jon Kangas opposed. In his letter, Holl stated that he was asked to resign during his review and agreed to it.
The letter stated that a three-month severance was due because of the county employee agreement. The commissioners discussed the payout.
Auditor/Treasurer Heather Olson stated the agreement: “If an employee voluntarily resigns his position with the employer, the employee agrees to give the employer 30 days advanced notice. If an employee voluntarily resigns his position with the employer,” which is different from what was agreed on.
Board Chair Murlyn Kreklau added this, which was decided during the closed session with Holl: a three-month payout plus 140 hours of personal time off. The commissioners approved the severance.
Kreklau gave a brief overview of the evaluation, citing five signed and five anonymous evaluations by department heads and elected officials. Holl was called into the meeting and, with “no further discussion,” asked to resign, which he did. The commissioners allowed Holl to write a resignation letter and send it to employees.
