Wadena County Commissioners: Contract approved with H2Overviewers for ditch maintenance and evaluation
by Trinity Gruenberg
The Wadena County Commissioners held their regular meeting on Tuesday, June 4.
County Ditches
At last week’s work session, H2Overviewers presented their work and what they were doing with Otter Tail County for their county and judicial ditches.
Some ditches that are conjoined with Otter Tail County offer an opportunity for cost savings, as they are already being worked on, and a joint powers agreement can be set up.
County Administrator CJ Holl recommended starting on those ditches and going from there. They were presented with two funding options, one of which is just over $4 per acre. Because H2O is already working in the area, the price would be $ 3.67 per acre—up to 16,000 acres along the county’s western border for an estimated cost of $100,816.
Holl recommended approving the contract for 2024, contingent on Ladd’s review, which also has informational meetings built in. Using MCIT or discretionary funds, which would be built into the 2025 budget and reimbursed from the ditch system, they would plan an informational meeting either in July or August....
