Wadena County Commissioners: County is lacking mental health resources

The Wadena County Commissioners held their work session at the Wadena County Sheriff’s Building at the fairgrounds on August 9.
Regional Mental Health Project Coordinator
Jennifer Westrum, human services director, discussed the mental health issues facing the state, community and region. She’s a psychologist and is concerned with the lack of recourses for the county in general.
Sourcewell hosted a project called Greater State of Mind with focus groups consisting of people in the county and region such as hospitals, schools, law enforcement, human services and concerned citizens.
“We are lacking in mental health resources in the region but we as a county are lacking significant resources for our citizens,” explained Westrum.
Resources needed range from children to drug abuse. And the county is lacking psychiatric resources. . .
